One of Kansas City's favorite traditions (and my personal fave) is the Annual Plaza Art Fair. What started in 1932 has become one of the nations Top five art fairs with over nine blocks of art, crafts and jewelry featuring top artists from the metro, nation and around the globe.
What many don't know is that over 1,500 artists compete in a juried process to make the cut each and every year. 2009 marks the 78th Anniversary of the Plaza Art Fair and it's bound to be better than ever.
30DAYS until the 54th ANNUAL St. James CourtArt Show®
The St. James Court Art Show ® is a juried fine arts and fine crafts show. Always held the first full weekend of October, it hosts an impressive 750 artists from North America. Held in the heart of historic Old Louisville among the country's largest collection of Victorian homes, the St. James Court Art Show® has for over five decades provided our neighborhood, city and state with a rich cultural and artistic legacy.
The Kentuck Festival, nationally recognized for its quality and diversity, celebrates a variety of artistic styles ranging from folk to contemporary arts as well as traditional crafts. Each of the 250+ artists participating in the Festival is either invited as a guest artist or is juried based on the quality and originality of their work. The guest artists are nationally recognized folk and visionary artists whose powerful visual images continue to capture national and international acclaim. Annie Tolliver Turner, Lonnie Holley, Butch Anthony and Charlie Lucas are among the self-taught artists Kentuck has been honored to showcase. The Kentuck Festival of the Arts takes place the third weekend in October every year.
The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is one of the most highly regarded and popular arts festivals in America. The Festival, a three-day, juried art show, comes to Pensacola’s historic Seville Square the first weekend in November. Each year, it draws more than 200 of the nation’s best painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers, graphic artists, craftsmen, mixed-media artists and others who have been gifted with the ability to turn inspiration into art.
The Festival features great music on the Main Stage, dance on the Parrish Performing Arts Stage, and authentic craftspeople in the Heritage Arts area.
The Children’s Arts Festival features numerous free, hands-on artistic opportunities for kids. The Student Art Show showcases the talents of school students in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties
Food and beverages are available from a variety of vendors, including some of Pensacola’s best-known restaurants and chefs.
Don’t miss Pensacola’s premier festival. There’s something for the entire family.
